Dreams & Visions

I hope everyone had a grand Christmas and that you're looking forward to a festive New Year celebration. And here's something else to celebrate: we're a week away from our first rehearsal on our next repertoire, DREAMS & VISIONS our joint project with the UC Berkeley Alumni Chorus. Here's a list of the repertoire:

Claremont Chorale alone:

Three Madrigals

  • Draw on Sweet Night -John Wilbye (1574-1638)
  • Rest, Sweet Nymphs -Francis Pilkington (1565-1638)
  • Weep You No More, Sad Fountains -John Dowland (1562-1626)

Three Part-songs -Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)

  • Der Abend
    Waldesnacht
    In stiller Nacht

Come to Me, My Love -Norman Dello Joio (1913-2008)

Combined Choirs

Three Nocturnes -Morten Lauridsen

  • Sa Nuit d'Été
    Soneto de la Noche
    Sure on this Shining Night

Lux Aurumque -Eric Whitacre

Sleep -Eric Whitacre

You can find recordings of a lot of these online. Those who went to Puebla a few years back will recognize the second of Morten Lauridsen's Three Nocturnes and also Eric Whitacre's Lux Aurumque. The Dello Joio piece is an old friend from the library. Otherwise, these are mostly new pieces for us!
See you next Monday at 7:30.
